How to Take Great Photos of Dogs
It is not as difficult as it may seem.
To make good photos of dogs you need practice, practice and following some easy steps, we've collected for you on this page.
So take a look and bring them to life!
- Choose the location (the fewer distractions - the better).
- Choose the light. Harsh midday light is not the best lighting variant. Soft lighting at sunrise or near the sunset and a light of an overcast day is a much better choice!
- Take your photos at a great speed for a split second can separate a great shot from an ordinary picture.
- Before making photos of your dog give him some time to get used to the camera. Let him sniff it. Press a shutter button several times vithout raising your cam to a dog's level. This way he will learn that there is nothing to be afraid of. Use some treats to reward your pooch for his good behaviour with camera.
- Place your cam at the dog's level. Don't try to get everything in one frame. Focus on the face of your dog to capture his personality and true character.
- Dogs perceive the camera lense as an eye staring at them, so if you want to capture your dog's gaze, you may simply hold the treat or to use a squeaker near the camera lense (but be careful when using treats near the cam).
- Don't forse your dog to do things or to play with toys he doesn't like. Try to figure out his natural behaviour and capture it.
- Fill the entire picture with your dog. If your photo is not good enough - perhaps your cam was just too far from your pet.
- Using a wide aperture setting on your camera to blur the background gives great results as well. As with human portraits It makes pictures of dogs more attractive.
- If you want to take a photo of a dog running or playing, use special camera-holding techniques. You may lay on the ground to be able to look through the camera but if you want to be able to move fast with your dog, don't do that. Practice and learn how to keep your camera on a dog's level and to take photos without looking through the lense.
